On January 1, 1916, a Canadian general of the British army, Charles Macpherson Dobell, entered Yaounde in triumph with his troops, followed a few days later by Allied reinforcements. After 16 months of intense resistance, the German forces abandoned “Kamerun”, which came under Franco-British control.
